The Saint Barth Film Festival “Cinéma Caraïbes” is back after a two-year absence due to the Covid pandemic. On May 4-7, 2022, the festival will celebrate its 25th anniversary, which did not take place as planned in 2020, or again in 2021.
Four feature-length films are on the program for the 25th St Barth Film Festival, including two documentaries. The first two films will be shown on May 4 and 5 at AJOE in Lorient, while the films on May 6 and 7 will be shown on the dock in Gustavia, pending approval from the Collectivity.

Le documentaire suit le leader d’un fameux orchestre de jazz de la Nouvelle-Orléans, le Preservation Hall, alors qu’il remonte à ses racines à Cuba où il découvre le pouvoir universel de la musique.
« A Tuba to Cuba » célèbre le triomphe de l’esprit humain exprimé à travers la langue universelle de la musique. Prix du public New Orleans Film Festival, prix du Jury Fairhope Film Festival, meilleure cinématographie au Tallgrass Film Festival.
TG Herrington a commencé sa carrière en tant qu’éditeur de vidéos publicitaires et des clips vidéos pour des réalisateurs tels que David Fincher, Michael Bay et Michel Gondry. Son expérience dans la post-production lui a permis de devenir le directeur de spots publicitaires pour Nike, Budweiser, Toyota et d’autres marques mondiales.
En 2011, à la demande du directeur et partenaire Simon West, TG a fait le montage du film d’action Le Flingueur avec l’acteur Jason Statham. Son expérience dans l’industrie du film a mené TG vers le cinéma narratif avec Mr. Okra, qui est devenu une sélection officielle au festival du film de Sundance et au festival de Canne. Herrington a alors changé de domaine pour devenir le réalisateur du film dramatique sur la guerre de Sécession, Free State of Jones, avec en vedette Matthew McConaughey.
Le dernier film d’Herrington, A Tuba to Cuba, accompagne l’orchestre du Preservation Hall de la Nouvelle-Orléans aux rivages de Cuba, à la recherche des racines du jazz. La première mondiale a eu lieu au festival SXSW 2018, suivi par sa sortie dans les salles. Récemment Herrington a écrit et a dirigé une série de clips vidéos pour la chanson « Come On To Me » de la légende du rock, Paul McCartney.

An American documentary about the Preservation Hall Jazz Band. The leader of New Orleans' famed Preservation Hall Jazz Band seeks to fulfill his late father's dream of retracing their musical roots to the shores of Cuba in search of the indigenous music that gave birth to New Orleans jazz.
A Tuba to Cuba celebrates the triumph of the human spirit expressed through the universal language of music and challenges us to resolve to build bridges, not wall. The film was directed by TG Herrington and Danny Clinch, and narrated by Ben Jaffee, whose parents founded Preservation Hall in a segregated New Orleans in 1961.
The documentary had its world premiere at the SXSW Film Festival in Austin, TX where Michael King of the Austin Chronicle[4] exclaimed that it is "very likely to become a classic of the music documentary genre."
TG Herrington, an award-winning filmmaker, began his career editing commercials and music videos for such noted directors as David Fincher, Michael Bay, and Michel Gondry. His post-production experience parlayed his move into the director’s chair, filming commercials for brands like Nike, Budweiser, and Toyota.
In 2011, at the urging of director and frequent collaborator, Simon West, TG signed on to edit the action film, The Mechanic, starring Jason Statham. The experience of having worked in the feature film arena led TG to his first foray into directing cinema via the award-winning short film Mr Okra. The film was an official selection to Sundance and Cannes Film festivals. Herrington then shifted gears to become executive producer on the epic Civil War drama, The Free State Of Jones, starring Academy Award-winner Matthew McConaughey.
The beginning of 2018 marked the World Premiere of A Tuba To Cuba at SXSW. TG’s first feature documentary that will be making its way through the festival circuit. Most recently Herrington wrote, directed and edited the music video “Come On To Me” by rock icon Paul McCartney.
